TESTIMONIALS
-
โThis workshop has helped me become a more compassionate parent. It has also helped my daughter understand her emotions and how to express them. She felt safe to express whatever she was feeling and we were able to constructively talk about it. When she is upset, I am able to talk to her about things we have worked on in class. It is very helpful because it is not just her Mom saying it, I am reminding her of what we worked on! I would recommend this to anyone, whether they have neurodivergent children or not!โ -Katie R., Child Age 6

โThis workshop was a wonderful experience for our whole family. It's really helpful to have these discussions about struggles in our household and hear from other families about having those same struggles. All of us learned to be better about expressing our feelings and to have more patience with each other and ourselves. It's amazing to watch something click in your kid and them understand that if we just talk about it we can work it out together. I would recommend this workshop to any family.โ - Nicki W.,Children Age 8 + 10

โThis workshop series helped our family to have open conversations about things that we typically would not have had. Parenting workshops/classes I have attended in the past were just for me, but it was super powerful to have my child there with me. We were both able to learn side by side which had a huge impact.โ Lauren W., Child Age 8

"Our experience with the Emotional Regulation workshop was overall a positive one. We enjoyed the different topics discussed and felt we could relate to pretty much everything discussed in one way or another. It led to some really great conversations during family dinners, we shared what we learned with other siblings that weren't present at the classes, and we continue to use strategies, tools and suggestions given during the workshop daily. Highly recommend this workshop with Kylee & Erika if you are struggling with big feelings, big reactions and are sort of lost in how to handle everyday difficulties with children!" Robyn S., Child Age 7

HEY, IโM KYLEE!
I'm the pediatric occupational therapist who will be Erika's partner in running this workshop! As a pediatric OT, I've been able to work with many families over the years, and one common challenge that I see is emotional regulation. Heck, as a parent to twin four-year old girls this is something that I face on a daily basis.
Like most of you- I learned a lot about myself during COVID. I took this as an opportunity to grow and change. Instead of wanting to change my children, I focused on changing me as the parent through integrating self-regulation techniques to help calm my nervous system and increasing my knowledge on child-behavior. I also focused on creating a home environment that fostered growth, self-control, and functional independence in my children. I started building new simple habits, which later turned into life-changing routines for me and my family.
This made me want to reach more parents, and share my experience of motherhood, personal development, and working as an occupational therapist with you.
I can't wait to work with you and your child!
HEY, IโM ERIKA!
I'm from NY and loving our journey in Apex, NC since 2017. I am a mom of two; ages 4 and 6. As a mental health professional I have developed my niche of utilizing a holistic approach and framework while supporting clients through fitness and movement. During COVID, my husband and I married our loves of mental health + fitness together in 2020 and created a brick and mortar gym in Apex. We utilize a variety of techniques to help symptom reduction, regulate the nervous system through breath work, self talk, empowerment, mental strength, strength training, rapport building and challenging ourselves to find our best self!
This journey of creating these workshops with Kylee hit home when I was actively supporting my youngest who was working on emotional regulation and frustration tolerance. It was hard to swallow as a parent but I hit the ground running to figure out how I could be a better teacher and supporter for my son and allow him to be successful. While working with an OT we were able to make significant changes in a short time. This sparked our idea of helping other families to find hope and allow families to feel success with professional support!
